TRANSPARENT PAINTING

My curiosity in painting is exploring the space between pairs of opposites. What is between arrival and departure; thought and action; transparent and opaque; sound and silence? What is the tension in absolutes?

Movement and stillness are driving forces in all life forms. I see this as a natural source of contrast, conflict, inspiration and harmony. By painting in reverse on a clear acrylic surface I create a transparency in which to explore these dualities. My objective is to achieve a space that is intuitively balanced in light, color and motion; one that speaks to our strength, vulnerability, and our awakening within.

I am also inspired by the words of the 13th century Sufi poet, Rumi: "Out beyond wrong doing and right doing there is a field of luminous consciousness. I'll meet you there."
